How we filter the data.

All data sourced from theLahman Database, and is organized to display here.

Hitters

All hitters data is currently filtered to include players who have had at least 1 season in which they had at least 1.1 plate apperances per team game. Anyone falling outside that number, is not included in Player Guess.

Pitchers

All pitchers data is currently filtered to include players who have had at least 1 season in which they had at least 1 out recorded per team game or better thought of as having .1 inning pitched per team game. Anyone falling outside that number, is not included in Player Guess.

Game Filter Options

Currently you can select to guess between either hitters or pitchers at any given time. Secondary filter game options include:

• Award/All-Star: Filter the player list by various awards like, MVP, Rookie of the Year, Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, All-Star.
• Minimum Seasons Played: Filter the player list by the minimum number of seasons a player has played in the league.
• Batting/Pitching Hand: Filter the player list by the hand that the player throws/hits with.
• Minimum/Maximum Year: Filter the player list by years a player may have played during. Will include all players that have played at least one season during the range given.
• Teams Played: Filter the player list by teams a player has played for. If a player plays a single game with a team, they will be included in the list.
• Total Players | Scouted: The length of the amount of players that fit the filters. Scouted being the number of players already seen during the session as not to get the same player multiple times in the same session.
• Clear Reports: Clear the scouted players set. Puts all the players already seen during the session, back into the master list.

Stat Descrepancies

The Lahman Database may differ from other sources, so please use the contact page to reach out if you have any questions. Some glaring differences:

• ERA+/OPS+: The Park factors used in these stats here may differ from the park factors in other datasets. This will cause different values you see here vs. other stat sites. Our algorithm for applying said park factors may also differ, as well as how other websites handle errors on certain plays will all play a factor in differing ERA+/OPS+ stats.
